About this artwork
With less than 10000 individuals, the red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is considered as an endangered species. Mostly unknown for the majority of people, his habitat in the Himalayas and China is being destroyed and fragmented.
To create this artwork I used magazine paper cuts depicting images of the moon, the ascension to heaven, stones, people wearing gas masks and the phase “quo vadis” (where are you going?) between others. All these cuts were glued to the canvas and then I painted most of the body using oil pigments.
