About this artwork
In the painting “Paar in Grobbach ” from 2020 Laime paints for the fist time the Grob stream motif from Baden Baden, which played an important part in the Schwarzwald series. Laime has himself said that ‘The colours under the canopy of trees in Grobbach are a work of light and harmony.” Laime used to visit this region and make sketches. The well-known Geroldsaur Wasserfall is close to this place.
In the painting we can see a path on the left side, where two figures walk to the vanishing point. The surroundings are completely covered in vegetation, showing a wide range of greens, oranges, and ochers. In the middle the stream flows to the viewer, showing movements and rhythm. “This is a painting that talks about love; love for our natural environment, and the pure love between a couple that walks together and experiences the beauty of life together”, says Laime.
