Living on Amazon rainforest is one of the most exquisite experiences I ever had in my life. It’s just pure life and nature. I lived surrounded by lifeforms like never before. No buildings, no streets, no electronic communications. Just nature and the kind friendship of the local fellows of San Juan de Yanayacu. Sometimes after work, I used to sit at the entrance of my lodge. I enjoyed contemplating Yanayacu river. People in canoes and dolphins swimming at the river were common. The dark waters of Yanayacu river reflected the surrounding landscape like a mirror. Amazon sunset is a painting based on these memories of the place I call home. For many people, Amazonian landscapes look all the same. I do not agree. If you contemplate them with care, each one of them is unique. A Mysterious story waiting to be told.

I grounded the canvas with a layer of plaster and leaves, to make an organic background. I used Acrylic painting and charcoal with thick strokes. Using yellow, green and blue as the main colours give the painting this sensation of peace and wonder.
